* Halloween on Nantucket
Posted on November 7th, 2008 by admin. Filed under Community Events.
Nantucket celebrates Halloween with enthusiasm. You will see people in costume during the day in stores, at the post office, driving cars, and just around. At sunset, goblins, witches, characters from Star Wars, and this year even an eyeball, gather at the foot of main street around the fountain, and wait for the parade to begin. At dusk, the parade begins, and winds its way to the Methodist Church where everyone files up to the communion rail for the judging of the costumes.
After costume judging there is trick-or-treating around town, and events at the fire station for the young. Later, when the children have returned home, the adults get into the swing of things with home parties or popular gatherings at various watering holes.
